This year, I missed out on going to the fireworks that I go to every year, but I was able to see them from my window, and my family did some of our own (safely). So I didn’t totally miss out. I just didn’t get any photo worthy moments during all of it. It was nice just living in the moment, though.
One event I did get pictures for was the start of my town’s farmer’s market. I thoroughly enjoyed going to each of the vendors and trying new things (like strawberry banana jelly), finding out about community resources, and getting some walking in on a very nice summer day.
I picked up three of these homemade, reusable paper towels.I was also able to watch a food demonstration for some cucumber and strawberry salad. It was really good, especially with the dressing, though I forgot what kind of dressing it was.I thought these flowers (mums, I think) were just beautiful, but sadly, I don’t currently have anywhere to put outdoor flowers.I was very interested in buying some of this unique jewelry, but sadly when I went by the booth I didn’t see the vendor anywhere in sight.I did get some freshly made lemonade, though, and a delicious pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, and salt potatoes from one of my favoritelical restaurants. It was great. For dessert, I got a cup of locally grown fruit for my walk home. It was so sweet and delicious. There’s not much to say about this. It’s just the sign for the farmer’s marketSo I have gotten beeswax candles from this shop before, but on this day, I got a small container of homemade honey so I could try it in my loose leaf tea. There was one vendor selling handmade furniture. It was nice, but I didn’t have the money for it or a way to get it home. This was one of the resource booths at the farmer’s market. It is not a resource I currently need, but you never know when you or someone you know will need any type of community resource.
I hope…
You’ve enjoyed this first part of how I’ve spent my July. It isn’t too exciting, but not every moment of a vacation has to be packed with action to be enjoyable. I was able to support my community, get high-quality goods, and enjoy a nice summer day out in my community.
My life has been so full of the wrong kind of action and traumatic situations that taking time to enjoy the little things is a nice change of pace.
